Masons and Order of Eastern Stars was formed in 1950 by the late Dr. William V. Banks. Dr. Banks felt it was time for a new fraternal organization that had Christian beliefs and goals, also to the intellectual progression of our youth. So, in August of 1950 International Masons was incorporated and chartered under the United States of America. Dr Banks was the first Supreme Grand Master of International F&A.M. Masons and OES. After our charter was granted our Supreme Grand Council had the power to establish a National Jurisdiction. St. Mark #5 of Detroit, Michigan was established as the father lodge of International F&A.M. Masons. The late Dr. William V. Banks(Founder)   Upon the creation of International F&A.M. Masons and OES the state of Michigan was the first state to form a Grand Lodge. In December of 1950 the Crusader Grand Lodge was formed in Michigan. This was a non-working Grand Lodge with no officers. The first Grand Master appointed to the Crusader Grand Lodge was the late Rev. William K. Kirksey. In June of 1951 in Flint, Michigan at the first Grand Lodge convention the Crusader Grand Lodge was changed to the Ralph Bunche Grand Lodge. Ill. Turner S. Hartfield was elected to serve as the first Grand Master of the Ralph Bunche Grand Lodge. Ill. Turner S. Hartfield (First Grand Master of The Ralph Bunche Grand Lodge)   Today in Michigan we have over 40 lodges chartered under the Ralph Bunche Grand Lodge, also a prospering Order of the Eastern Star and youth program.
